Who is Gregg Russell
Gregg Russell is a song writer, singer, performer, actor and entertainer from South Carolina. He has been writing and performing children's music for over 25 years. His credits include TV specials for the USA Network, and writing and performing original music for both CBS and NBC. He's best known for his evening performances under the old oak tree in Harbour Town where he has delighted over 3 million fans, young and old alike for the past 25 seasons.
Entertainment, TV and Movies
One of his early ventures was the music for the SCETV series "Dooley and Pals". Along with Dennis Scott, Gregg wrote the music for the children's series. His CD "Stop, Look and Listen" has many of the tunes from the series.
Gregg has shared the stage with such notable acts as Steve Martin, The Beach Boys, George Burns and Stephen Curtis Chapman. He has appeared at hundreds of college campuses, thousands of major corporate conventions, family festivals and events across the nation, and is Carnival Cruise Lines' Premier Headline Entertainer. Aside from entertainment and movies like Camp Tanglefoot and most recently Come Away Home, there's a serious side to Gregg. He is involved in numerous charitable organizations and is engaged in philanthropic ventures on a daily basis.
Hilton Head Heroes
In 1995, Gregg and his wife Linda founded Hilton Head Heroes to benefit seriously ill children and their families.
In a world where heroes are few and far between, on Hilton Head Island, they are as plentiful as the sand dollars on the shore. They are Moms and Dads, aunts and uncles, children and grandparents. They own resort villas, restaurants, homes, bicycles and boogie boards. Through the Hilton Head Heroes program, they are able to share what they have with families who are similar to their own in every way, except that the families in the Hilton Head Heroes program are coping with the reality of having a seriously ill child.

Lids for Kids
Hilton Head Heroes was started as a natural extension of another successful Russell program called Lids For Kids. This program has distributed over 1000 baseball style hats to children undergoing chemotherapy treatments over the past few years. As the Russell's became more involved with families facing these devastating circumstances, the idea of Hilton Head Heroes was born. In 1996, the Lids program became an official reality.
